Information on External Trade is collected, processed and disseminated by the Statistics division of the Customs Department. The Industrial and Construction Statistics Division of the Department of Census and Statistics compiles the following information annually based on the data of Sri Lanka Customs and Central bank of Sri Lanka.

• Total imports by value, country of origin and major groups such as Consumer Goods, Intermediate Goods and Investment Goods.
• Total exports by value, country of destination and major commodities such as Tea, Rubber, Coconut products, Garments, etc.
