This
is prepared according to the guidelines given by the Food and Agriculture Organization(FAO). The total quantity
of food stuffs produced in the country, added to the total quantity imported
and adjusted to any change that may have occurred in stocks since the
beginning of a given period, is the total food supply in that period.
By subtracting exports, feed to livestock, seed, industrial and other
non-food use as well as losses owing to wastage of all kinds, the remaining
quantity represent the food available for consumption. Food Balance Sheet
shows quantities and contents of food supply (per capita availability)
in terms of nutrient value.
