1.       Definition :

Low Birth Weight (LBW) is defined as a birth weight of a live born infant of less then 2,500 g (5.5 pounds) regardless of gestational age. Sub categories include Very Low Birth Weight (VLBW) which is less than 1500g, and Extremely Low Birth Weight (ELBW) which is less than 1000g
