Welcome You have reached the website that disseminates household income, expenditure and poverty related information revealed by the Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) 2006/07 conducted from July 2006 to June 2007 by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) in Sri Lanka. The HIES is a national sample survey which is conducted once in about 5 years time period through 12 consecutive monthly rounds in a manner to capture seasonal variations and the HIES 2006/07 is the sixth survey in the HIES series that was started in 1980/81. The HIES 2006/07 did not cover the Northern province and the Trincomalee district of the Eastern province due to prevailed conditions in the two provinces at the beginning of the survey period. D. B.
